Cairns Top 20 Tours - FAQs

What sort of tours can I book through you?

Only the Top 20 very best ones! We’ve broken down our Cairns Top 20 Tours into four categories to make it easier to choose a tour that’s right for you:

Under each category you will find comprehensive information to help you make an informed selection on the best tour for you – meaning you can feel free to book online with all the information you need at your fingertips. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for questions.

Do you only provide information about Cairns?

Our tours are all Cairns tours. However, we provide lots of useful information for tourists about surrounding attractions and areas. Cairns is a tropical paradise surrounded by places of beauty – exploring them from your base in Cairns is half the fun!

You will find information about:

  • Daintree rainforest
  • Tropical waterfalls
  • Port Douglas
  • Great Barrier Reef
  • Kuranda
  • Mossman Gorge
  • Green Island
  • Crystal Cascades
  • Barron Falls

And much, much more! If you’ve thought about visiting Far North Queensland, you will find plenty of information here to start your planning. If you see a tour you like, take advantage of our booking service!

Who are your tours best for?

Out of our Top 20 Tours there is something for everyone. There are tours suitable for families, romantic couples, retirees, backpackers and FITs (free and independent travellers – i.e. not groups). There are tours that are pram and wheelchair friendly too.

I’m travelling on a serious budget but still want to visit Cairns. Is there information here for me?

Absolutely! Just because you’re travelling on budget doesn’t mean you should miss out on all the fun. Cairns is actually a brilliant destination if you’re on a budget due to the natural wonders like the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. You don’t have to go to a huge expense to see these, you really just need to get there and enjoy it. To help those travelling on a budget, we’ve compiled a list of free things to do in Cairns and fun places to visit.

How did you pick the Top 20 Tours?

Great question! We previously worked in a tour booking centre in Cairns and found people were so overwhelmed by the enormous choice of tours on offer – and rightly so! There are hundreds of tour options it’s so hard to know which ones are the best. These tours are favourites for a reason and we’ve booked them for clients over and over. The tours we have picked have the best views, the best experiences and the best reputations.

Should I travel in the wet or dry season and where can I find more information about the weather?

There are benefits to travelling in both – it depends what you want to do! The wet season is from December to April and the dry season from May to November. This is approximate and they sometimes start late and/or finish early. The humidity is definitely much higher in the wet season and it does rain a lot, so if you don’t like high humidity the dry season is a better time to visit.

While the dry season is a more popular time to visit Cairns, the wet season has some benefits:

  • Accommodation and other costs related to travel can be cheaper because it is a less popular time to do so;
  •  Waterfalls and rainforests can be even more beautiful and powerful;
  • Ocean fishing is better with higher water temperatures;
  • It is hotter than the dry season and there are less tourist crowds at the popular locations.

See our seasonal information page for more about the weather and other information about sharks and stingers.

Do you provide refunds?

In order to receive a refund on your tour you must give a minimum of 48 hours’ notice of cancellation on all tours unless otherwise stated. Please note a change of date within the cancellation period is at the discretion of the tour operator.

Do I need to book in advance?

It is a good idea to book ahead. A lot of our tour operators are small with a limited amount of spaces. Also around popular times of the year such as the dry season, Christmas and Chinese New Year, tours do tend to book out.

Does it cost more to book with us than directly with the tour operator?

No. In fact, because we don’t charge credit card fees in most cases it’s cheaper!
